Mark Požlep: Permanent Vacation
Marko Požlep’s exhibition Endless Vacation stems from research on the Adriatic Highway, built between 1945 and 1966. The artist raises questions about the road’s impact on economic development, workers' tourism, nudism, and cultural shifts in the region. In collaboration with economist Igor Feketija, he examined the social and economic changes it brought, incorporating testimonies and expert insights. The exhibition features a poetic sound work created with writer Muanis Sinanović and musician Gašper Piano, alongside a series of charcoal drawings depicting workers, tourists, fishermen, and other figures of this landscape. Požlep weaves an intimate narrative about a road that has left an enduring mark on the Adriatic.
