Programme 2026
We will enter 2026 with the exhibition ART VITAL – 12 Years of Ulay / Marina Abramović, that will be on view until May 03, 2026. Spring and summer will bring exhibitions by Yein Lee and Phil Collins, alongside the major group exhibition untranquil now, based on works from the Hamburger Kunsthalle collection. In autumn, we will launch a new exhibition cycle, New Perspectives, in the basement gallery, dedicated to a younger generation of artists. This will be followed by new projects by Špela Petrič and Mark Leckey. In October, the Indigo Festival will once again take place at Cukrarna Gallery, followed by PERFORMATIVA, and the year will conclude with the exhibitions Just Like That, Kiluanji Kia Henda, and Forensic Architecture.
ART VITAL – 12 Years of Ulay / Marina Abramović
November 30, 2025–May 3, 2026
Curators: Alenka Gregorič and Felicitas Thun-Hohenstein in collaboration with Sydney Fishman from the Marina Abramović Archives and the ULAY Foundation.
ART VITAL – 12 Years of Ulay / Marina Abramović presents the most extensive account to date of the twelve-year collaboration between Ulay and Marina Abramović, from their first performance, Relation in Space (1976) at the Venice Biennale, to their symbolic farewell performance, The Lovers (1988). “I have never before had an exhibition that contained so much documentation, so much exposure of my inner self. The curators went through my archive and Ulay’s. I did not want to have any control over what they would choose,” said Marina Abramović.
Yein Lee
May 19–August 30, 2026
Curator: Ema Ograjenšek
The Parter Gallery presents a new series of sculptures and a large-scale floor installation by Vienna-based Korean artist Yein Lee. The exhibition explores material instability, spatial uncertainty, and the transience of forms, which the artist uses to create a tense relationship between body, space, and material.
Phil Collins
June 4–August 30, 2026
Curator: Alenka Gregorič
A presentation of British artist Phil Collins, whose works have been shown at Tate Britain, the MoMA in New York, the Berlin Biennale, and Manifesta. Taking place in the basement exhibition space, the exhibition is divided into thematic sections and offers a comprehensive insight into his oeuvre, from his documentary approach to his blurring of fiction and reality.
untranquil now
June 18–October 18, 2026
Curator: Corinne Diserens
A group exhibition presenting a selection of artworks from the Hamburger Kunsthalle collection exploring complex histories, bodily experiences, and different modes of perception. It features over 30 artists, including John Akomfrah, Francis Alÿs, Richard Artschwager, Dora Garcia, Joan Jonas, Gordon Matta-Clark, and others.
New Perspectives
September 8–27, 2026
Curator: Alenka Gregorič
Launch of a new exhibition series in the basement exhibition space, dedicated to presenting young artists. The focus is on video media and exploring new expressive strategies used by the younger generation.
Špela Petrič
September 10–November 29, 2026
Curator: Alenka Trebušak
Eating Back is a new project by Slovenian artist Špela Petrič, who lives and works in the Netherlands. By means of carefully designed tactical and poetic gestures performed in Dutch greenhouses, she explores the automation of care and its wider social and ecological implications.
Mark Leckey
October 6–November 8, 2026
Curator: Brandon Rosenbluth
The latest in our basement exhibition space series presenting artists whose primary medium of expression is video. On display is an exhibition by Mark Leckey, one of the most influential British artists of recent decades. The show features his most important works, in which the analogue meets the digital and the mythology of everyday life meets the esotericism of the Internet.
Indigo Festival
October 7–9, 2026
The main event of next year’s Indigo Festival will be a performance by electronic music duo Autechre, while the festival programme as a whole will address current social, philosophical, design, and artistic issues through talks, exhibitions, a music programme, and performances by local and international artists and speakers. The detailed programme will be announced next year.
PERFORMATIVA
November 2026
Curator: Mara Anjoli Vujić
Cukrarna Gallery will host the sixth edition of the PERFORMATIVA programme, which will once again present contemporary national and international works in the field of performance and performance practices. -
Just Like That
November 12, 2026–February 18, 2027
Curators: Mara Anjoli Vujić, Alenka Gregorič, Mateja Podlesnik, and Alenka Trebušak
The group exhibition Just Like That uses works by selected Slovenian artists to explore emptiness and negative space, as well as the ways in which the criteria we apply to observation influence our perception of images.
Kiluanji Kia Henda
December 10, 2026–February 14, 2027
Curator: Mara Anjoli Vujić
The Parter Gallery presents new works by Lisbon-based Angolan artist Kiluanji Kia Henda, in the artist’s first solo show in Slovenia. He has previously exhibited at the Venice Biennale, the Dakar Biennale, the São Paulo Art Biennial, and a number of other international venues. The exhibition explores identity, politics, post-colonialism, and modernism in the African context.
Forensic Architecture
December 8, 2026–February 7, 2027
Curators: Alenka Gregorič and Alenka Trebušak
Forensic Architecture explores political and environmental violence through precise visual reconstructions of events. Taking place in the basement exhibition space, the project brings together architectural models, data traces, and witness testimonies to reveal the mechanisms of power that shape our reality.
