Špela Petrič
This autumn, the Parterre Gallery features an exhibition by Slovenian intermedia artist Špela Petrič, recipient of the Prix Ars Electronica, Bio Art & Design Award, and White Aphroid Award, whose artistic practice explores the intersections of biology, technology, and ecology.
How might we rethink the relationship between living bodies and the digital infrastructures that increasingly shape the conditions of their existence? Eating Back, an exhibition by Slovenian intermedia artist Špela Petrič, emerges from a series of artistic interventions in industrial greenhouses where vegetables are cultivated for commercial food supply chains. Through these interventions, the exhibition reveals the material, ideological, and social conditions of technologically optimised environments on which we not only depend as consumers, but with which we are also intimately entangled through the food we eat.
